Is HARMAN really recruiting for permanent remote roles? Would they ask us to come to office after sometime? I am a bachelor woman supporting my sickly parents and can't move them out of city. And my city don't have harman office. HR did mention permanent remote, still want to confirm as I've heard many cases people were called back across different product based companies. Are you really asking this?
Quit, you get to leave with your dignity.
Depends on what you want out of it. If you get fired (non-performance related) you may be entitled for severance. If you quit, without good cause, you may even forfeit your unemployment eligibility. Additionally, there are career marks and burned bridges that may follow you around. There are also mental and physical health questions you need to address. There just isn’t enough information to go off to properly advise you - I’d say only you are uniquely qualified to answer that question.
The very best of all is having a job in the cue and getting laid off before you put in your notice. Severance in hand while starting a new job is a special kind of awesome.
Fuck dignity if you don't have something lined up. Get fired or find a other job and quit. These recommendations to quit are hardly pragmatic. It sucks getting fired... been there... but
1. You don't have to tell future employers you were fired
2. Unemployment
3. Your gap of unemployment could be much larger if you quit
Ride this out, browse Indeed at work if you know you'll get fired and apply to some shit.
Ideally, neither. But the answer depends on what lens you’re looking at the situation. Eg Look at your local / state laws on what parameters exist for you to collect unemployment if you’re terminated. Quit looks better for future employers, esp if it’s threat of firing due to poor performance
Everyone assumes you were fired when you leave a job without a new job so might as well get fired. The only time you might be better off quitting is if you work for an agency in a big holding company. Your record will be available to other agencies in the network
If you care about your career and dignity then quit. Otherwise, get your ass fired, but just know that once you burn that bridge, it will follow you around for a while.
As big as the agency world is, we somehow all know each other because of how small the talent pool is.
Quit.
Uh....
It’s better to quit when you have a better opportunity lined up. And it’s better to be fired when you are absolutely beyond miserable and DONT have another opportunity lined up... that sweet sweet unemployment check!
Dan Wieden: fired.
Getting laid off and fired for performance related issues are two different things. Neither is exactly desirable.
Getting laid off ("position eliminated"), usually results in severance and unemployment. It aint' great, especially at a junior level, but it happens.
If you're fired for cause, (like you've been on a PIP with no improvement) in Illinois at least, you don't necessarily get severance and the company can challenge unemployment. In that case, you might be better off resigning. But you don't get unemployment benefits if you quit.
Employed=Employable; it's usually easier to find a job when you have one. If possible, you're better off sticking it out until you get another gig.
What AD2 said. I managed to finagle a lay off about 4 days after receiving an offer from another agency. Went on vacay in between and basically got paid for it.
Also just a heads up that even if you get fired, unemployment appeals greatly favor the employee and not the employer. Even if you're fired with cause there's a good chance you can appeal successfully... If you're up for it.
Financially speaking it's way better to get fired
Can you only get unemployment benefits if you aren’t on a performance plan?
