Is it better to resign before or after a big annual company event where I will be speaking? I feel like I would put them in a bind having to find a replacement speaker within two weeks (although it’s a topic someone else could do) but the only other option is to have my final day be the last day of the event, which is awkward to me. It would also be my first time meeting clients in person since I’m still relatively new…but then I will be gone.

Before the event. Especially if you would be meeting some clients. There’s never a great time to quit.

I know they’ll be very upset…but I try to remember too that companies don’t think about if it is a “convenient” time to let people go. I’m just a really bad people pleaser lol.

Before the event because it sounds like being in the event has bigger implications (meeting clients etc.) compared to having to find a speaker . Also, the sooner the better so they have the time to find a speaker. Offer to bring that person up to speed and prepare for the event.

I would resign after you speak. I think doing it before might make things REALLY awkward. But ultimately do what is best for you.

I just left a very toxic work place.
The crazy thing is they were just named the best local municipality to work for. It's upsetting. They advertise a "culture" but don'tapply it. It felt like a used car sales pitch, I was sold a dream but given junk. I am constantly replaying moments. I have read so many books and everything leads to they were the problem. How do I recover from this?

Anyone ever get a job offer at a new company and tell their current boss before accepting/leaving?

Name the most ridiculous micro-managing by partners that you experience.

I’ll go first: MP told me that on initial emails, I am always to start with “Hello [name],” but after the initial email, I am not to address her by name again in the same thread. Initial greeting can only be “Hello [name] ” because just first name is too brisk and a “Hi [name]” is too informal. Had a 5 minute, in depth conversation as to why she prefers it this way…

I have a CD that gets extremely flustered when you ask them for their opinion on a solution. For example after showing them multiple color pallets and CD not quite liking any of them (real Goldie locks moment) i suggested why not we do (fill in three colors here), the CD freezes up and gets annoyed because they don’t want to say yes or no without seeing it in front of them. Working on tight turn arounds and a cd who is too busy for meetings it proving tough with remote working. Any tips?

I had an old boss join my company recently. They weren’t my direct report at my old company, but was my manager’s manager. Well, my new boss took me aside for a meeting and stated “there’s a negative perception going around about you”. She stated that her, my old boss and another member of current leadership were talking about the way I speak. She then says that my former boss told them that I wasn’t energetic enough in my last role. How should k handle this? My boss is agreeing with her

I feel like gay men especially are constantly discriminated against in the workplace. I have been turned down for a promotion, yet again, in favor of a married heterosexual with kids. This has been the story of my career. Have superior experience - stellar reviews - people fighting to get on to my team because our team is great and I treat everyone well. This is so frustrating. Again and again, it’s a culture of parents helping other parents. No gays in upper level mgmt in our office.

Hi friends,

I'm a new joinee in MSFT.

People in my team they don't come with me for breaks. (They blame the timings are different since they sit in crits but i don't think so because they have their own group of friends to go with)

Secondly, when my team members see me in cafeteria we expect they'll sit with us but people here are being rude they directly go and sit with their friends they don't call you to join. ( atleast they could have said they are accompanied)

I've been working at this company for about 3.5 weeks now. Its been great so far.

We have an org chart in our dashboard ATS/HRIS and so I clicked on my first day buddies name just for fun.

I was able to see her entire employee file..even her address. I was really freaked out and I went to another profile and the same thing happened, I was able to see this person's emergency contact. Is this fucking normal? Should I say something and will I get in trouble for looking at a colleagues file?

When do you think associates are usually let go in small practice groups that are currently being overwhelmed with work? Is it when it starts to slows down or when they already have a candidate to replace you? Just trying to figure out how long I have after annoying a partner 😂.

Is it totally weird to request another meeting after getting a job offer to make sure it's a right fit? 🤔

I've noticed that sometimes I still have lingering questions. ❔

I've been burnt out by toxic work environments, so I don't want to make another mistake. 🙄

How would you handle this logistics of this meeting? (Timing - after the offer but with time before you start? How to phrase the reason why?)

Thanks! 🔅☺️

Ignore my title, I'm an analyst.

I've been working here for over a year and my associate basically never does a thing. I get I'm the analyst but I'm the only one on my team. I pull together every page.

My associate does minimal reviewing, if even, usually it goes straight to my vp. And even my vp has pulled pages together.

Is it valid to ask my vp to chat about this? I'm not even expecting a 50/50 but pulling even 1% of the pages would make me not want to shoot myself
