I imagine most partners, unless hired together, are bound to make different salaries. Just because there's not a set hiring fee, and promotions and negotiations add variables to the equation.
My art director makes more than me, but he arguably has two years more than experience. I can't really argue with that and for the most part it doesn't bother me. I just wanted to know if this was normal. Do I try and even it out if we move to another agency together?
I know from a recruiter here that at my agency the policy is to pay them the same salary. Pretty sure it's to avoid any friction that may stem from from one feeling undervalued. Anything for cohesion.
my husband and his CW made different salaries when they were hired separately bc his CW's salary negotiation strategy is "what absurd number can I throw out and make them react to?" They've since gotten hired as a team and used the same strategy together.
My old AD had more experience than me so took a bigger piece of the pie. If you performance / ideas are competing with theirs though, it could be time to even up more.
Yes, you def should make matching salary requirements if hired as a team.
I've seen people hired as teams making different salaries because one "had more experience" than another.
Even though they started their careers together straight from school, because one switched more, when they became partners again one made more.
CW generally makes more.
