Thanks everyone for easing my stress. Signed the offer today.
Not sure how common it is but it took over a month after my verbal offer at Goldman. So it’s possible, some it takes time for sign offs I guess.
Ty! Seems to be a similar deal.
No that's not normal
Try following up. It is better to know the status of your offer. Companies nowadays do whatever they want, and they have no morals.
I really don't trust or rely on verbal offers. I will have the assurance once the offer is printed on a paper and signed by me and the company representative. Otherwise, I will keep on accepting invitations from all other companies I applied with.
If they have continued to communicate with you, I would not be overly concerned. However, if you are feeling uncomfortable, it wouldn’t be bad to tell your recruiter that you are starting to feel uneasy with the delay and ask for another status update.
Appreciate your input
It sometimes can. I would say overall it usually doesn't take that long. But you may just want to follow up. You may want to make sure that they haven't been put on any sort of hiring freeze.
It depends on the company and its bureaucracy. Some companies require A LOT of approvals before they send a job offer. But yes, it was a rookie mistake. Next time until you start a job, do not consider it a close deal.
For sure lesson learned. Luckily it seems to be solid, but agreed I gave myself a disadvantage by not continuing with other strong leads for negotiation leverage. I did not realize I’d have so much time to do so.
I work at MS and hiring has currently tightened up a bit and there are currently some temporary / extra layers of approvals. If the recruiter is staying in touch I would not be too concerned.
Thanks - I think it’s the extra approval red tape like you said. Had a reaffirming chat with HR today. Appreciate you for easing my concerns.
Yes. But it's not common. Candidates usually receive the written offer after 3-4days. You can email them for a follow up.
