I don't even entertain those types of roles anymore they're just a waste of time. But you're right finding the good jobs is like searching for a needle in a haystack.
There are still good jobs out there, it's not like the entire field has descended into pointless jobs that are little better than scams. But it's like anything else, the lousy jobs are the easiest to find, as the people posting them need to really shake the bushes to find people. Finding a good position can take time, and often some networking.
I have never met a serious company it seems like we deal with scammers most of the time
A lot of companies unfortunately are just looking for people to try to bring in business with no cost or risk to them. Unless a company is extremely well known and has a great reputation I would not entertain a commission only role. A way to filter out the garbage is to ask to see the performance report of the current sales reps and see if they are making money or not before you begin.
Let me guess you do in home home improvement sales?
It’s hard to think otherwise! Glad to know I’m not the only one!
Yes- And a lot of job postings are sneaky! I recently applied for a job at an insurance company and didn’t even know it was a sales job until the interview! The way the job listing was worded it was not clear that it was strictly a commission sales position.
Depends on the industry. Also, try applying directly on the company websites. I have found that to be helpful. I completely understand what you are saying. I have several companies approach me and say that they would like to offer me a REMOTE position at home without even interviewing.
They're alot of legit sales roles out there alot, but the good ones are really hard to get if A- you don't have all the Extra Skills Poste, B-your resume doesn't look amazingly impressive etc... heavy competition from other people also applying ! Good Luck ! Don't give up !
Commission only is a scam. If the company isn’t good enough to pay you, you don’t want to work there.
There are tons bogus Cydcor jobs in Atlanta. Dealerships are a decent bet. I’m working on a project that will take time to unfold, but I have hopes & believe it will help folks find jobs quicker than these lousy job apps
Just like losing weight; there are 1,000’s of ideas out there. Most are designed to take your money. Sales careers are no different. There is no secret to be shared.
We live in a world where people are encouraged to take what they can control and make people pay for what ever you can get. Then take what you get and keep as much as you can.
Insulin comes to mind. That’s enough of my thoughts. Solidarity must win in the end.
Solidarity wins in the end ? Do you know why sales people don't unionize ? Most Sales People are out for themselves myself included ! It's tough to get a good Sales Position with a great salary and eve. Greater commissions for the same reasons I mentioned previously and even if you get lucky and offered an initial interview most dont respond after I tell them my availabilty for a video conference interview or a phone call at 9am in the morning apparently is too early for them or did they just completely forget about me ?
It’s tough when you first start in sales. I remember working in door to door sales for four years. I would get all these emails for “sales jobs”. After researching them would find out they were commission only.
If you want to get into sales- find the market you want to get into. The big ones here are the waste industry, cell phone, cable and even title insurance. Those are just a few big ones. Focus there and find a few companies that you keep up with on LinkedIn. Then apply on indeed. Hope this helps.
you could remove the word "sales" and replace with "any non-executive"
The industry has pulled away from advertising their products to save $. Good luck with cold calling- I personally never answer and then block the number!
Exactly, so many company like this. A totally transformation
