The job market isn’t even actually cooling, there is just a ton of uncertainty right now in all markets and the instability is scaring employers. They ghost, but eventually will re-open the job rec or will reach back out at a later date. What used to be a 2 week timeline has become a month to 2 months. Keep following up once a week and they will eventually give you an answer.

Not getting calls at all really. Definitely a lot of following up and a lot of we’ll get back to you. Probably going to be a while before things pick back up again. That is even assuming the economy is decent enough for it. Lots of hurry up and wait out there on both sides of it.

It’s definitely not just you. I’ve had full interview loops—panel, assignment, the works—only to hear nothing ever again. Not even a rejection. I get that teams are stretched, but ghosting at that stage feels brutal. It’s made me document everything and follow up with more intention, even just for my own peace of mind.

The job market has cooled to the point where it's like the frozen tundra out there. My hunch is that a lot of companies have just hit the brakes on hiring. They don't know what to do with all the chaos being injected into the economy. We could be pushed into a recession, and no one wants to add staff just before that happens. Things are bound to turn around, but it's anyone's guess when that might happen.

Things are bound to turn around ? How 🤔 ❓️

I was set for a position and a hiring freeze came on. It is still in place after 3 months.

That's Horrible, but you should keep looking until you actually start a job as unfortunately that is how it is in this Trumponomic created Catastrophe ! You just have to keep applying for a better job or a new beter job all the time until you get and start it and it sticks !

Feel like I've been going full bore for the past decade and literally have no problem continuing the trend. Like I could just keep marking milestones and grinding or whatever until I die.

Wondering when if anyone else felt similar and decided to pull back and do something more relaxing. What was the catalyst, what are you doing, and are you enjoying it?

I'd considered taking up a 9-5 somewhere but not sure if thatd wear off fast.

I have mostly passive investments. I was thinking the other day: what if everyone had only passive investments? Wouldn’t this create incredibly high amount of systemic risk? Are we all sheep??

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. I was able to work out a deal with my company before I came because of prior experience luckily, but they offer a terrible base salary and sham of a commission structure to new hires + no remote. Then sit here and can’t figure out why…

I left my job about a year ago to relocate, make sure it was the right decision and start a side business in the mean time. Now I’m actively looking for a new sales position, have tons of experience, but am struggling to even get a response from job apps. I am wondering if this is because of my employment gap? I don’t have my side business listed on my resume because I don’t feel like I have enough positive “stats” to report yet given it’s new. Any advice or recommendations?

“Job hopper” and “quiet quitting” are all schemes made up by boomers to make you think everything is the employees fault. When in reality people are just getting out of bad situations. Older companies do whatever they can to pay you the least amount and get the max work out of you. Except our generation will just leave amid we’re being mistreated, not complain for 35 years making 50k and 0 advancement.
