How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.

Yes it’s possible. You primarily need to crack the interview - so if I were you, I would spend my time on interview prep. There are a lot of case/interview prep resources available online specifically targeting MBB roles.

Would concur, the interview. I’ve made it to final interviews twice and I went to a state school. Network and learn how to articulate your brand and study, honestly for months on the specific processes. Casing alone won’t get you over the hump. In both cases, I had only a few days from recruiter email to interview and then super day only a week after so I was ill-prepared.
I know a few folks that did it and not from a consulting background either. Just gotta network and kill the interviews
This is very common, I know half a dozen people off the top of my head who have done this in the past 12 months.
Case interviews are more rigorous than the ones you took to get into Deloitte, so I’d spend fair amount of time preparing for this, as this is primary determining factor. Network for referral as well, as this can’t hurt.
Lot of resources online for case prep, consider crafting cases. Also don’t forget about the behavior portion of the interview, and be well prepared for this, particularly at McKinsey with their PEI.
100%, especially in EMEA. Although I think it’s getting slowly more popular in NA too.
Yeah just for reference, my post was referring to folks in NA, so not uncommon here at all
Yea I jumped this year from big 4 consulting with 2 yoe - it’s very possible and I’ve seen a lot of people do it from D. Just networking and getting a referral helps with getting an interview. Then after that it’s mainly killing the cases / behavioral portion
I will add right now that hiring has slowed down considerably at all MBB so it may be a difficult time to jump

Sky is the limit homieeeee
Yes, it’s possible, you just need the skills they are looking for (prep well) and reach out to people who are ex Deloitte on LinkedIn or here, they might be the best way in. Also there are plethora of career opportunities out there apart from MBB so keep your net wider. Good luck
Definitely possible! You need to prep your story and definitely practice your cases with people who can give you relevant feedback.
Yes. Use referrals from friends at MBB and ace the case. Although hiring may be slowing in 2023
