Is it possible/feasible for a tax supervisor 4YOE CPA to transition into the M&A world. I’m thinking of transaction advisory, but only have limited M&A experience from a tax perspective, mainly from a sell side. Long term play to phase into private equity/VC. Just curious on your thought or ideas.

I’m a JD who hasn’t passed the bar (I know, I know). PwC requires that I pass the bar to become manager, but do other firms have this requirement? I’m ready for manager but PwC won’t allow it

After joining one person gave me assignment on java+react js, which I completed and shown to them. Now they said your RM will get you a project.. I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

Any thoughts?

Accounting advisory big4 or IA at F100. Both senior roles. Roughly same base pay.

Big4 has clear trajectory and interesting work.

F100 has 14% bonus, perm remote, and immediate vesting 401k over 7%.

I started a position a month and a half ago at a large holding company. My manager left after 2 weeks of training me, and his replacement is likely going to be another senior accountant. I am so lost and don’t have the guidance I had signed up for. Is it bad to ask for an internal transfer to one of the brands instead?
