How much yearly hike can one expect at Société Générale ?
"Depends on performance" seems to be a very vague answer.
Can someone please elaborate on a better answer.
Also, Can someone shed some light on promotions?
Is there any policy, like you have to work for X years to be eligible for promotion etc.
Thanks in advance.

Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

In short - yes.
Although they “found the budget” now, you’ll be on a short list for any future cuts cuz you’re likely more expensive than others in a similar role at that company and you’ve shown that you’re already looking elsewhere.
They also can keep any future raises to a minimum because if you truly become a unhappy, you’ve set the example that you’ll go through the headache of applying elsewhere and landing another offer, which they can choose if they want to match again.

Do you like working there or was it just about the money? It's not like you can keep doing what you've always been doing and collect a fatter paycheck, if they're giving you a bigger title they're also going to demand more responsibility. All things to consider.
You’re cooked. Take the new job.
Maybe but really it’s impossible to know. You could debate about something you can never know until the cows come home.
…follow your soul. If you know deep down they’re just temporarily trying to appease you, but the job hasn’t been lighting you up for a long time, then they’re not for you. If it took them years to finally pay you what you’re worth and ONLY when they saw they were going to lose you… it’s not a good sign they will treat you properly in the future from now. The other company STARTED off with the right offer, they deserve the chance.
There's a reason you were looking for a new role. Money doesn't just appear out of thin air. If they had the ability to pay you well the whole time and truly cared about their employees, they would have already.
The money isn't the reason people go looking elsewhere. Will all the other reasons you were fed up all magically disappear with that pay bump? Are they going to expect more from you for the money than the new company? Sometimes you love a company and are heartbroken you might have to leave to survive. Most of the time it's an excuse to leave.
I would leave. Start fresh.
It's worked out tremendously for me on two separate occasions, but I'm definitely the outlier

I would start fresh unless you’re really happy where you are. but for me, I’ve seen people accept counter offers and then their management gets laid off and they got a new manager. That manager now has a clean slate and you’re not on the chopping block. So it’s not necessarily doomed if you accept.
