Incoming multi-tier cringe

AWS cloud application architect. Had an on-site interview with AWS a few days ago and just got an email saying they want to talk to me about next steps. The role is cloud application architect but I want to ask them about the senior cloud application architect role. I have all the relevant experience for that role and feel like I’d be a better fit for that senior role. How should I approach this conversation? Is this even possible? Amazon

yes it is weird
I had one of those—he said that HE never used his PTO. I said that I never get to see my kids and I work my tail off. I then told him that I was going to use every single PTO day I had. Delighted to say that the moron is no longer working in the ad biz.
Yes. Your manager should encourage you to take time. The only instance I've seen a no is if someone picked the date of a big launch knowingly or picked a time when three other people were out leaving teams in a bad spot. Cover all your bases by identifying any conflicts and giving a good amount of notice (check your policy) especially if it's more than a few days. If you're getting just a general discouragement, be sure to get it in writing bc that's a huge red flag.
It is not okay. And generally not legal to do so. So use it!
What did they say?
Get as far away from that person as possible.
Very weird. My manager always encourages it.
You spelled terrible wrong
Definitely a weird thing to say, and I’d see it as a red flag. I mean some context could change my mind, like if you’re taking off like 100 days a year and your boss is saying that it’s too much, then sure, I could see that being an issue. But if you’re taking a reasonable amount, then your boss can get fucked!
Bad behavior but NOT uncommon.

I encourage my direct reports to take their PTO and always work with them to arrange coverage. IMO shouldn’t have to ask for PTO approval, just tell people when you’re going to be out.
