What part of the company? Culture differs wildly I feel depending on department.
Haven’t met anyone on that side but as a whole culture is good in most departments. Smart, hard working people, who are willing to help. I’ve only met a few assholes. We have unlimited PTO which on my team at least we are very encouraged to use without guilt but I know other teams say otherwise. I’m not a huge fan of our leadership, I think they play it safe and are very disconnected from the average employee in terms of wants and needs (specifically when it comes to pay and benefits). Actually even from our customers (merchants) as I’ve heard Tony say things that literally merchants negate so I’m not too confident in leadership. Even departmentally, I don’t feel confident in certain teams being led properly. We’re a very top heavy organization where there are mostly Senior Managers and up, so if coming in at that level (or even Manager trying to get promoted into SM), I feel like there’s a lot of competition to get promoted because there’s few openings. We tend to hire a lot externally for Director/Senior Director roles that stay open for months vs. Promoting from within. WLB at the senior manager + level is quite bad. We recently did our employee engagement survey and company wide, the biggest issues are not having the tools/resources to do my job well, collaboration is hard across teams and functions, and I don’t see a long-term career at DD.
I’d say my time at DD has been positive in that it’s getting me experience but I do see those 3 issues being a problem for me wanting to stay longer. I love the people on my team/in my department but not enough to stay longer than 3 years.

DoorDash is probably a company at high risk during a recession or economic slow-down. Eating out is an extra expense, and getting food delivered is an even greater add-on. A recession isn’t guaranteed, of course, but if you are worried about it, I would not recommend a company that deals in luxury items.
