I’m waiting for my background check as I accepted an offer for Remote Licensed Insurance Customer Service Rep. While I’m a 1099 for my current role, I still haven’t told them I am leaving for a full time role that can change my life. It’s a small agency, and I’ve gotten close with the director. She’s the employment reference I gave; I’m a nervous that when they receive the call to verify employment, my days will be difficult. I’d hate to be let go before I start with LM. Thoughts? What’s your agency’s WFH/ remote work policy?
It’s not obvious to me why you would resign during a period when you are not available to work. Wouldn’t it be less complicated to end the disability situation first?

Exactly.
Is it absolutely necessary you quit? Because when you go your disability benefits do, too. You can call the provider of the benefits to ask. They might have answers for you.
STD is an insurance program that you and/or your company pay into. It’s paid for, might as well use if. The easiest example is someone not coming back after taking parental leave. Quitting your job when the baby is born-instead of taking leave-is just leaving money on the table. Just give your two weeks (even if you’re on leave, tell them two weeks prior to the leave ending).
