I just got a HireVue interview sent to me by UnitedHealth Group Optum. I’m old and never had to do one of these before. Any insights into questions that are typically asked or what I should look out for?
It feels impersonal for the level of the role (Senior Director), but I guess I’m just a boomer 🤷♂️.

If you're negotiating, at least try to negotiate why you would succeed in the higher role. Talking them down is going the wrong direction!
Disagree with EY1. At Deloitte they would typically hire you a level lower, and if you are good and successful, you can get promoted faster. Don't try to sell yourself for something you are not. Be direct and honest. We are an audit firm - we appreciate honesty.
Take a middle ground between EY1 and D2. Don't upfront say you'd be happy to start lower; but do indicate you realize your on paper experience may appear to be lacking and you'd be willing to take an opportunity for less experienced hires in effort to prove yourself and get in at a great firm. That's my thought, anyway. Best of luck!
More info: was recently laid off at PwC during the FS fiasco but don't have enough experience under my belt to be hired as a senior. Job posting is for Deloitte Digital, in my dream competency and industry. Is it even worth applying in hopes that I can explain my situation to a recruiter?
Usually yes
Agreed with EY1
You can also ask for more money. Say, switching firms may set me back a year in promotion because I have to get to know a new team. Don't forget a signing bonus!!
Never know until you try, go for it!
Always apply, what's the worst that could happen? You'll just be in the same position.
Thanks guys for all of the advice. I'm wondering if they're hiring just in general or specifically for a project. I took on a role intended for a senior on my last project, so I don't mind the extra responsibilities. Another question - should I straight apply from the website or should I cold LinkedIn message a recruiter? Don't really know anyone at DD, or else I'd go the referral route.
