It means that you are able to take on more projects with less direct oversight.
Junior is entry level, mid means you know what your day to day tasks are and should be able to show initiative, and senior often means you start to manage junior people on projects.
Yes, I’m a mid-level. Here’s a bit of a breakdown on how the levels work (at least in the US):
Junior is introductory work that helps you grow. It’s usually bottom of the food chain work that nobody else really wants to do and you are guided by everyone above you.
Mid-level is after you’ve had a bit of experience and are ready to perform harder tasks and take on more responsibility. You get to do better work and may also help guide juniors.
Seniors have more years of experience and take on even more responsibilities. They usually step into a bit more of a leadership role to help guide juniors and mid-levels while also stepping up their workload and abilities.
I think mid-level is from 3-6years. It can depend because some companies classify senior as 6 years of experience, some classify it with 8. Basically when you’re not junior but not senior enough to be a senior.
