Did you mention the lay off from EY? Did they ask you? How did you handle that part? I heard that several recruiters and employers were not too receptive when Accountants from EY mentioned that they were being let go to during the interview process
From what I understand, (and this varies office to office) a mixture of overhiring a couple years ago when there was an abundance of work + losing clients + not gaining enough new clients. Basically, too many people, not enough local work, and too expensive to keep sending everybody to other cities for work.
50%?! Holy hell. How's you manage that?! And congrats dude!
Congrats🍾🍾🍾
@Crowe Horwath I did mention it to them. I happened to get an interviewer that was willing to listen and take the time to understand. Plus it helped the interviewer knew that the big 4 does that from time to time so she understood what I was going through. As she herself knew of people that switch from EY to their firm just recently due to the same problem. So I think I just was blessed in regards to the recruiter and the people I interviewed. I don't really know how it all came together so quickly but I'm happy that it did.
And vision 2020 was a moonshot that was destined to fail
Congrats!!! Sounds amazing!

@PwC 3 Hey, fuck you, dude calling the OP a low performer. Get over yourself and the fact that you are stuck in a job you don't like while being overworked - all while OP makes more money than you.
Happy to hear. Love positive stories related to PA!
The region is in the west. Specifically California. I had two years of public service with an additional 3 years of private service. Number of people in the office I'll be working with in 2017 is about 300 but they have offices all over country. I'm not sure if they are still hiring. The only way I managed the pay bump was as a result of my education and experience. It felt good to know that other firms value individuals with their masters degrees rather than EY who lumps you together with the those coming right out of college.
I also got laid off but just accepted a job for 36% increase not including bonus and real work life balance. I had no issues when recruiters learned I was laid off.
Thanks to God?
Seriously want to know about the 50% pay jump. How much were you making?
Congrats and 🖕🏻 EY!!!
2020*
OP where?! That's an insaneeee increase in comp. Congrats! Or if you don't want to say where exactly, give us some details. Region, years of experience, service line, how much $, size of new firm?
Are they still hiring?
Hard to believe a 50% pay bump for low performers
^ happy to hear that. I'm very happy for you #blessed
