Why on earth try would you move to Sales right now, if you don’t have to? Be glad you are an analyst with no quota during a bad economic downturn.

Connect your experiences as an analyst to a sales role. If you had to do negotiating in your role put it down. Take courses for sales to gain knowledge. Sale skills are used in everyday business and no one realizes it. Reach out and connect with recruiters. Search for companies that truly hire people that have not done sales roles prior.
Possible take a sales support role, then move up.
Take a personal inventory of products you currently use and respect in your current role. Why do you love these products / companies? Engage with the sales teams for your top product(s). Give them feedback, ask for training/ certification opportunities. Then ask them about potential openings at their company or opportunities with their resellers. This networking will get you connected to inside influencers that will champion you as a candidate. Make friends with sales teams. It’s their job to talk to customers, they will log every interaction with you on their CRM which gets them kudos from management for engagement with end users. Sales people love to be sold.
