Fat Joe talking about BDO robbing him 🫣
Advice needed - boyfriend has almost 3.5 years of finance experience at a bank. Interviewed for PwC valuation senior associate and now recruiter says they want to hire him at “experienced associate” because he has no valuation experience. Is this too big of a step backwards in career? Should he push back and see if it gets him anywhere? If he does accept Associate, is it reasonable to ask for written, definitive timeline (1 year?) for promo to Senior upon meeting standards? Help!
True or false?

You’ve described PE, do more with less. Then dump it and run. It’s easier to find a job when you have a job.
In my experience, moving laterally and asking for a promotion at the first cycle of review at the new firm is easiest. I’ve changed firms 2, both laterally and then promoted within 1-1.5 years. But, I asked in my interviews what my changes are for promotion and the timetable and made it clear that it was important to me.
Has your current company given you a reason for not promoting you to manager? How long have you been a senior accountant?
I, personally, would apply for a manager role. When you go into a senior accountant role with a company that has a fully staffed department, there may not be a manager role open in 1-1.5 yrs and if you made a lateral move including salary, you will not be happy there finding yourself in the same situation you are currently in but will also have added another company on your resume.

No
I laterally transferred and then they only promoted the home grown talent in the slots that opened. I couldn't get assigned to good projects because I was the outside entry- I also got crap projects. It was going to be years - if ever for a promotion. YMMV
If you have the credentials for manager I would seek manager. What firm are you working for and where is your interview with. It might be hard to get promoted if moving to a bigger firm as they will question why your current employer did not promote.
