I’ve been an audit staff accountant for 5 years and have my CPA license at a local firm. What opportunities are there for transitioning out of public accounting? Looking for better hours & work life balance. Just getting bored with the work and never ending busy seasons. What common positions do people transition into?

Difficult and personal question.

Worked in big law since this summer. Feedback is that my legal writing is first class, but that I’m severely sub standard when it comes to aptitude for work as a lawyer with paying clients.

I feel terrible, no self confidence and want to get out. Any alternative career suggestions?

I'm reading this book on boundaries. In the work section it says I should tell my boss that I can't work after 5 PM. Knowing that advertising work commonly goes past 5 PM...would my job be in danger if I said that?
There's not really a rule book that says I must work until the work is done even though it's an unsaid expectation. Thoughts?

I got offer from HCL for the position of Lead consultant with(23.49 fixed + 3.51 variable). I have 8 yrs of experience. I want to know if this position is same as Team/Tech Lead ? As in my current organization I am working as Team Lead. And also how is job security and work life balance in HCL?

Advice when looking for Tech Consulting internships in Chicago or DC Metro? My GPA (3.04) has disqualified me from most major companies. I've opted to focus my efforts into my student organizations and helping others reach their goals, in doing this I compromised for a B average. Are there any firms that will accept recommendation letters with the application? The networking route is also something I am exploring, but haven't had much success thus far. Any help is welcome! Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm doing patent work. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

How easy is it to move from an investment bank firm to a tech company?

Any one make a move from fund admin after big 4 assurance and then was able to make a pivot to a PE fund accounting team? I am considering moving to a fund admin now. Have 9+ years of big four experience. Worried that I can get stuck in fund admin. But I have interviewed at several big name pe shops and make a few rounds on interviews but then get the same feedback that they are worried about my lack of operational experience.

There is lots of companies really taking a hit in the tech space. Is this something that people are nervous about? Many seem to still be having a hiring push but with the button falling (IMO this is still just start we have a long way to go to bottom out) will that halt and layoffs ensue?
