I would act like an adult and keep my job while I look for something new.
Wait to get paid off and apply for unemployment, then look for a job while getting some rest.
Don't quit if you can't afford it.
Throw caution to the wind and take a leap of faith. Start that honeybee business you always wanted.
Don't quit. Update your resume, start looking, and if you get laid off collect the unemployment and keep searching

Depends how much you have saved and how good your book is. I took a year off to travel and was able to freelance remotely. Was fucking awesome. No regrets.
If you want to get out bad enough you'll figure out a way to make it work. I took a leap of faith without a huge savings and the freelance work is steadily coming in because I have solid relationships that I built over the years. It also propelled me to launch my side business.
If you want it enough it will come. Start looking, networking hard.
Offer to be cut in the layoffs and you can probably get a better severance package.
