Your manager should tell you this. Ask them.
People don’t always get promoted when they deserve it, they get promoted when there’s an available spot and they can fill it. Not sure what your agency or team is like but with all the mergers and lay offs there’s less open roles than ever, and it might not matter how ready you are.
But it’s case by case, as the deloitte person said that answer can really only come from your manger/team, you should raise it with them and try to get a clear path/list of milestones ready. I just wouldn’t take it personally if they come back and give you some bs, or a list of things you’re clearly already demonstrated you can do, because sometimes even if you’re ready and deserving there’s just no opportunity where you currently are (and the bad job market makes it really tough to find a promotion elsewhere)
Ask your manager about it AND have a discussion about your projected future and what you want. Remember that just because you’re a junior or mid level you won’t automatically get promoted. Ask what you can do to get there. Specifics. And follow through with it.
Ask for the next two levels of job description to provide directional guidance.
Review areas in the next level with what you are currently doing and meeting.
If you’re missing any areas, use these as objectives to meet. Ask your line manager what areas need improvement on and agree on objectives and timelines - it doesn’t need to be the next annual review for you to hit these markers and move up.
If it’s all a bit flaky / wish washy then consider jumping ship and aiming for a higher title or remuneration that’s deserved.
Also talk to your more senior planner about taking on some of the work they are doing. Or just take the initiative to do it if appropriate and not going to make them look bad. A lot of media people don’t know how to delegate or manage so juniors can feel at a loss. Also make sure your work is highly accurate and organized. You have to be amazing at your current job to get promoted. It is not automatic even after 18 months.
