I've been in public accounting for roughly three years now, and I've debated leaving to pursue my CPA. My manager has promised time and again to offer a plan to assist with focusing on obtaining my license, but they always redirect the conversation when brought up.

Has anyone considered or taken this approach? Is this a viable approach given the job market now and potential recession?

Overall, my goal is to leave public accounting.

Currently C level (target promo next summer). Been mostly on finance transformation projects. Worked in strategic finance before that at a f500 healthcare company.

Recently promoted senior and the raise was surprisingly higher than expected. I had applied to a position before knowing about the promotion and raise. I don’t think the position will be able to match the new raise since I was promoted early (new job level is based on years of experience rather than title). Should I politely bow out? HCOL audit SM looking to leave big 4. What should be my comp expectation?

Is applying a few days before the “Apply by” date too late? Do most decisions get made early on/they don’t wait for all applications before interviewing/hiring?

What level and service line were you at the big 4, and what percent salary increase did you get once you left? I’m a S1>S2, and the offers I’m seeing are around 10%-15% higher, which feels a little low. But maybe I’m being unrealistic.
