I've been thinking a lot about how tough it is to break out of technical roles and into leadership.
You can have the certs (MBA, CSM), the experience (leading teams, managing deployments), and still get boxed in by your title - "Lead Technician," "Specialist," "Engineer," etc. It's frustrating when you know you've got the strategic chops but the job market doesn't see it.
Is anyone else navigating this transition? How did you prove your leadership value beyond your title?

In this field, when choosing a masters degree program is it more beneficial to get a degree in Human Resources to further my knowledge in HR (my undergraduate degree is in Economics) , an MBA, or Data Science Degree due to the fact that HR is becoming more data driven as well as get a PHR / SHRM-CP certification?

Recently obtained my aPHR and I’m considering next steps in advancing my career. I am eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP presently and will not be able to sit for a PHR until 09/2023. Any pros/cons with either certification? Should I wait to sit for PHR or go for SHRM-CP now?

Burned out in current role. 10-plus years post-MBA experience in Corp Fin role unable to move up to Director due to lack of "scope" - limited to no opps. Is it normal for a big4 to take over two months in the interview process? Since end of January I've had five interviews w team members, including with the partner who leads the practice I'd be joining. Still no word. Switching from commission to salary!

I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.

What % haircut should be expected? As an example, if I make 100k (base + commission) today, would it be realistic to ask for 90k (10% cut) + equity to make up the difference?

When you’ve put in a lot of hard-work as a developer on a great project and received the best performance award but compensation has been same since Day 1…and have completed 2 years in the company. Furthermore no signs of compensation going up…Is it the best time to leave or stay? Additionally too many management changes have taken place that everything feels out of place.
