I've been working for a plaintiffs personal injury attorney for 4 years. I just accepted a job working for the defense for medical malpractice. My current employer told me I'm going over to the dark side. Is that true? Am I selling my soul for defending doctors?

You're not going over to the dark side. You'll be surprised at how many frivolous cases there are in med-mal. There are always going to be bad actors who see medical professionals with high malpratice insurance as a lottery ticket or a way to make a quick buck.

Also, if a doctor really committed negligence and did not perform within the standard of care, it would difficult to defend that. But every person should be afforded legal defense.

Bottomline: med-mal defense is not automatically the dark side!

Need your help 🐠 I feel like I‘m always sick (flue like symptoms ~2x per month). The doctors either just treat the symptoms or give me referral for a specialist for one or more symptoms, I feel like I‘m getting nowhere with that. Any advice on what tests I can ask for that helped you in the past? Any recommendations for a more complete checkup in Manhattan (ideally covered by most insurances)? TIA!

Hi Fam!
Any suggestions on what medical insurance we can buy for parents traveling to the US? I’m looking for reasonably priced ones that offer good coverage! Jr. Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm in Central Florida. Good credentials; top 10% at T14, law review. Sick of private practice bc of hours and pressure. Also, not enjoying the work that Central Florida offers, but want to live here.

I want to one day have my own firm. Trying to think outside the box on how to get the experience w/o being in big law for ten years.

Thinking of applying to be an ASA and to the FL AGO. Would like trial experience or civil rights/con law work.

Thoughts appreciated!

I’m a newly graduate from a community college. My program of study was Health Information Technician. I passed my RHIT exam a month ago, and I’ve been applying to jobs in state, out of state, and remotely to only receive “sorry you were not selected email.”I don’t have experience and I know that’s the reason I’m not getting selected. I’ve applied for receptionist, medical biller/coordinator, and medical clerk. Even with inflation willing to work for minimum wage or less just to gain experience.

I need advice from younger 🐠 who are closer to my son’s age than I am. He’s finishing up his 1st year in college and he’s gained the Freshman 15+. He plays a college sport, so he’s getting some activity, but with classes a hybrid of in-person and online, he’s not as active as usual and I think he’s enjoying unlimited food on his dining plan. I’ve heard jokes about the Freshman 15, but not seen how this plays out. Is this common? Do most people lose it when they adjust to college?
