I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

It's always best to get them to offer some numbers first. But, in the situation you're in, if you need the job, you might consider just accepting the offer. If you think you can counter with 62K without them rescinding the offer, you can try that. But it's only 40 bucks a week, so it may not be worth rocking the boat over that.
i would have said: What do I need to show or do to get to that level? If I accept the 62,what will entitle me to aspire for it? I can actually adapt my output based on the conditions. I need the job first.
Respectful counter offer in the range of discussion always fine
I regret not asking for the range first. :(
In that position, if the job is needed, I would do a soft counter, explaining that you expected the higher amount, but that you would be willing to do $60k with a review in 3 to 6 months for an increase in salary if your performance is as expected or better.
Buddy, just accept the offer. Are you really going to let this opportunity go because of 2k? That's like 1 month's rent BEFORE tax.
