West Elm has free design services and you don’t have to buy anything. I used them and they guy even recommended dining chairs from a different store because he thought they would look better. Even if you don’t end up buying anything from there, it will give you a better idea of colors, scale, etc.
Might want to ask friends who love to decorate for help
Start w magazines and going to furniture stores w friends—decide/define your style.
Go to ikea to get ideas you don’t have to buy anything, even furniture from there but they have some nice setups and will get you on the right track
We did a few years ago. Overall, it was not a good experience. We agreed to buy furniture from her, supposedly at a discount. We found very comparable/suitable furniture at about 2/3 the price.
Our second time around, we used a different designer on an hourly rate. We wanted help with more of the big picture stuff, like colors. She spent an hour figuring the specific angle for a vase on the table in the corner.
Agree with the west elm idea
I do interiors on the side. Yes, we are worth it but we are expensive and have lofty tastes. Be prepared to shell out. 🤗
