Just got into a full time grad program for international affairs that starts in January of 2021. (completely changing careers). I need to stay working at my firm until then and possible after to get the billable hours for my CPA. I passed all 4 exams and I refuse to give let that go to waste...... how do I tell my employer I'll be going to school in a way that they'll still let me work part time? Extremely nervous they're just going to let me go.

Received a job offer. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a concern I had about it. It's an entry level position, and I don't have much experience. The billables are 2040 a year. For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.

I'm SVP/strategy for a PR agency. I moved into PR, Healthcare, and Strategic Planning only 3 years ago. An agency recruiter is trying to convince me to move into a GSVP account role, assuring me "at that level it's all strategy." (I dont think she understands the words she's using. Or that I'm qualified). But long-term, knowing account roles are so much more plentiful than brand planning in PR, I'm wondering if I should start thinking about account. I recently had an interview with BNY for an Analyst role located in DE. The interview went well and I was informed by the recruiter that the team was interested. They asked if I was willing to relocate immediately, and I told him that my decision would be best made if I see an offer. I like my current job, company and public accounting. I know I am being underpaid at $70k as a senior tax associate with 2-3 years of experience as I have talked with my local peers as well as local recruiters. Also, I know outside hires to my company get paid about $5-$10k higher than me, but they don’t get a raise the following year. It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Also, the pressure on billable hours when all that really matters is how much our fixed labor costs vs. how much we can bill (which is usually fixed fee or at least a range) and the fixed labor costs of offshoring is significantly cheaper so the hours don’t matter. Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!
