Used dart to commute for work for several years. Was safe and timely during traditional commuter times. Can be a bit, umm, entertaining outside of those. I still use it for Mavs/Stars games. It’s really fun for those.
Dallas is a car city. The dart is fine for places it can go directly, but the metroplex is designed to be traversed via car and that’s the most efficient way to do it
I find the dart is fine. Doesn’t feel as safe, and often has a smelly homeless presence on it and or at the stations.
I’ve lived and taken the comparable transit in Chicago, NYC, Bay Area…DART is physically just as good for the most part but the lack of fare enforcement and presence of the homeless crazies means I try it a couple times a year to see if it’s changed and otherwise avoid.
I used the DART for years to/from work. Plenty of strange stories of people and crazies. I lived right next to the station so it wasn’t inconvenient for me. But I had a car for anything else.
I saved a lot of money since parking at work was kore expensive then the monthly pass.
I would never take it for something like the airport since it takes 2x longer.
It was pretty reliable, but about once a quarter there would be a shutdown or something that would delay me. Although it helped get me out of work at a reliable time so I could catch the train.
Do not take the dart lol. Not even close to the Chicago metro
