I was hoping that you were going to sway Buckhead. Amazing options and nightlife. I’ve never stayed downtown. Sorry, I’m useless to you OP.
Been in ATL on a project for over a year. Buckhead has the best hotels but you need to leave by 730 8 at the latest in the morning to get in quick.midtown has some cool restaurants and nightlife. Hotels are ok. Downtown is rough at night. Don't want to be walking around (by Peachtree center). But the Ritz is nice and we have a decent rate there.
OP, traffic in ATL is atrocious. If you don’t want to spend a good chunk of your morning/evening in an Uber I would stay close to your project location.
Motel 6 - they leave the light on for you.
Downtown is boring and has no food options. Stay in midtown close to a Marta station and you'll be much better off
St. Regis in Buckhead is the best though
Stay downtown and make a point to uber to midtown in the evenings. Krog st market, ponce city market, lots of other stuff to do nearby just not downtown itself
If downtown, stick with the Ritz
Westin Peachtree is fine.
St Regis or Mandarin Oriental
Aviva for lunch eveeyday
Project is downtown, good to know
You’re going to enjoy Atlanta.
ATL is a big city, you may wish to narrow it down a bit.
W Midtown or Ritz Downtown
Client is downtown, basically next to the Westin. But i hear downtown sucks at night
Westin peachtree is garbage. Downtown stay aw the W or Ritz
Yeah you could stay in midtown and it would be fine but I wouldn’t stay in buckhead. Ironically I don’t know the specifics of most hotels though as I live here. Coolest area to stay (near restaurants and exercise trails) would be over near the Clermont Hotel but I doubt a boutique would show up in a booking system.
Ritz or W! Peachtree centre area can be rough was there last week and a dude ran into the hotel after he was asked for spare change outside the cvs... he didn't respond and on his way out the guy followed him and threatened to hurt him if he didn't give cash! Now that's never happened to me I all my years in atl but made me realise it is much rougher than I recall so please optimize for safety not nightlife!
Pretty sure about three people died in the westin over the last couple years if you're in a good spooky hotel for Halloween season.
Agree with everything said above, I lived in Midtown for 2 years. Took Marta into downtown. Takes about 10 15 min depending where you stay at. In Midtown I liked the Hyatt, downtown definitly W or Ritz.
I wouldn't let nightlife make a decision for my hotel choice. At least for me doesn't happen enough. Midtown def has enough options for food and if you don't need a 3 day bender enough to go out. Check crescent street and empire south, Ecco, Lure, Intermezzo (all Midtown). For lunch Dua (Vietnamese) or generic places in the bofa plaza. Anatolia downtown is a great place for crafts, hookah and mediterranen downtown.
East Atlanta and the highlands have improved dramatically over the last couple years with more hipster scenes.
