I wouldn't be surprised if Airbnb charged a 5% credit card fee to both the merchant and the customer lol

Credit card fees are always paid by the merchant
I would ask for the invoice that Airbnb has given to your management company. Most credit card fees are around 3% which the merchant would charge your management company.

Last time I stayed at a b&b, it was through booking.com. I paid the owners directly because while they use the site for reservations, they don't use it for payment because booking.com takes a percent of the fee.
Based on this, Airbnb taking a fee doesn't sound out of the ordinary.
I've posted my vacation home on Airbnb before, and they take several fees (I don't specifically recall a credit card fee though, it might have been embedded in with the insurance and other "admin" costs)
I’m an Airbnb host in the US and they charge me 3% on my bookings. I do not have a credit card fee charged to me as a host. They also charge the guests a fee, but I don’t see that out of my nightly charge (although it obviously plays into the guest’s overall willingness to pay).

Serious question do you guys make money off these rentals? Or just break even due to high property cost and expenses? Would love to hear more about you renters. This is a huge goal of mine some day. Would love to own a rental.
Thanks EY1. One tip also is that if you’re managing it yourself, play around with length of stay. I’ve moved my to a 7 day minimum and got yard games, fire pit, pack and play, baby seat, and things to make it fun for small families and it’s working out better. Less effort on my side and less partying for my neighbors 😊. Also typically because most people have weekends renting quickly there aren’t that many places that actually have weeks available. Good luck to you too!
