Anyone have thoughts on latham, STB or S&C for transactional work?

Each is more akin to a buddhist monastery than law firm. You’ll spend each day in joyful, quiet contemplation while experiencing fleeting moments of zen.

Jokes aside, what kind of transactional work? Practice group is more important than firm for day-to-day life.

STB

Arguably Latham for capm and lender side lev fin. STB/S&C for m&a depending on PE/pubco. STB for funds.

like

S&C seems to have more psychopaths than the other two, but probably the best resume boost.

If want PE, go to STB.

Latham may be slightly “chiller” than the other two but probably not worth going there just for that cause so thin on the margins.

I’d probably take STB.

like

Latham. Best vibe and still a great firm. Simpson and S&C are both miserable based on everything I’ve seen and heard from people there

like

S&C is probably the best for quality of work, training, exit opportunities, and partnership prospects. But likely more intense than the others. Personally would pick S&C because you can always lateral to the others, or anywhere else, from there.

You can lateral in to any of those firms from any of those firms.

We want to find a career that allows her to work remote or that at least gives her a better work life balance so that she can see her kids grow up. Should she get certifications to give her a shot at adtech?Too late?

How to deal with people flirting with you at work.
I’m married, and one of my coworkers flirts with me. Nothing super overt, but definitely not professional. We’re good friends and work together constantly because we’re on the same client, so I don’t want to make it awkward. Do I just do nothing and let it go? It is mostly just odd I’m not super offended, but I’m also clearly uninterested!

I am seeking new employment, I was recently laid off due to lack of work. I would very much appreciate any leads. I have a Bs in Construction Management and over 15 years experience with Revit and AutoCAD and 7 years of plumbing design. I have solid references and impeccable work ethic. I truly enjoy what I do. Working remotely the last three years has become a way of my life and supports our current situation well, therefore I am seeking a similar role but will consider other opportunities.

Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.
