Say “nevermind, I’m not leaving” and take PTO for two weeks. Then give them a 1 week notice.
That’s exactly what I’d do too!! P1 you’re awesome
Yeah just take all the PTO now and start next job after. It’s still BS what they’re pulling but you’ll continue to get paycheck on PTO which essentially replaces any sort of gap you’d have between jobs
Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s any requirement to pay it out unless you work in California
Not true, many (most?) blue states also require accrued PTO payouts.
Why wouldn’t you check the policies before considering a jump
To be fair. I don’t think most people base their employment decisions on PTO payout alone.
I left last October and got over a months PTO. so this must be a new policy or maybe they are just enforcing it now. Blame it on the COVID.
Lol...I left.
How can they do this? Wtf
PTO is meant to be taken, not banked.
EY4: not in California
Sadly, nothing you could do. I moved from US to Canada under one EY still lost all my vacations.
I burned all pto at old employer as I started w ey. Overlapped 3 weeks.
Lodge an official complaint through ethics hotline. I left months ago and spoke to a lawyer about it, They are technically violating federal law. I didn’t think suing was worth it so that’s what I did
Can you provide some more information? I will so like to do this and maybe the more people that file a complaint, it could potentially force their hands to change the policy. Thanks in advance!
Are you in the US? If so what state?
When did this new policy come into affect?!?
So I think it’s always been EY policy that prior FY PTO is not paid out, only current FY. But yes to your point OP it has changed just for this year to include oct - dec now that we are switching to calendar year vacation
My office is Mclean VA, and apparently I he new policy too effect 01/01/2020.
Yikes, bad luck, guess I won’t be talking to EY
Did you work in dc at all?
Yikes
Yes i am in the US in Virginia, new policy took effect this year and i rolled over about 160 hours from last year which i stand to loose
Is there a way to ask how much will be paid? I have 150 hours and would like to know if I will get paid, or if I should take 3.5 weeks of vacation before giving my notice
Take your annual base pay and divide by 2080 to get your base/hr....then multiply by the 150.
