I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Hello all, would anyone be willing to help me with a referral to any consulting companies. I have 3.5 YOE in supply chain/procurement and have a secret security clearance. I have experience with sap and just got my mba so I wanted to look around. Thank you!
Hi fishes! Need help deciding career path. Currently have bachelors and work in business consulting. Thinking about getting in to cloud space by getting numerous cloud certifications OR shoot for an MBA from M7. What would you do for a sustainable career? Thank for the input!
I have minor generalized anxiety. Lately, I’ve had worse anxiety than normal, and as a result, I’m taking my second mental health day in a row. I didn’t tell my firm that it was a mental health day, I just told them I was sick with non-COVID symptoms. None of the partners I work for objected or said anything negative, but I’m now getting worried that they’re somehow going to find out it was just a mental health day instead of physical illness, and that it will somehow bite me in the ass . . .
How much money do you have left over after you pay all of your expenses and tax? After taxes and rent, healthcare, 401k, and food, I have about 12-14k left over at the end of the year. Is this low? Should I be saving more?
As someone with a background in the military, is it worth it to try to go back to the government as a tax analyst or senior tax analyst for the Dept of the Treasury? I'm wondering if I'll have an edge in getting hired as I've been at the GS-13 level before I left the military and I'm hoping I can use that time in service to add to a pension time requirement in the government.
Has anyone ever applied to an MBA program that emails you with waived application fee and essays just to say no when you get accepted?
Cost of MBA is a heavy burden and average time to pay off these loans I hear is 6 years. I don’t plan on working in corporate for too long as I want to start a business. Is getting one a good idea?
Anyone ever use Hire a Helper for an out of state move? I have all my moving dates scheduled for this week, and they called me out of the blue to say they can’t find any unloaders in NYC that have enough insurance coverage that meet my building’s COI requirement of $5 million.
What opportunities exist for pre-MBA consultants to enter the social impact/philanthropy line of work? Advice and/or leads welcome
Which pet insurance do you recommend for a 1 year old pup? Has had a rough stomach so vet trips were often. Has slowed down now
My benefits page shows that the before tax contribution and Roth 401k contribution can both be matched by my company (up to 6%) which do I choose ? I thought Roth wasn't matched?
401K Question - Very Confused. Just came to US and will be here for about 4 Years. Firm matches 25% of first 6% employee down. Some say, upon withdrawal, have to 40% tax/penalty / others say .. Contin
Thoughts on Grey NY health teams (I know everyone has mixed feelings on pharma in general) specifically the account departments?
Has anyone read the book Divorce the IRS by James Miller? I recognize that it’s a relatively new book so not that many people have probably had the chance to read it. But my mind is blown. Should I be pursuing a Roth 401k and not traditional 401k? It seems that even if I retire early, the Roth 401k provides way more tax advantages than traditional. Am I missing something?
Do you guys have insurance for your watches? Would you take your insured watches traveling to toursity locations?
Just received a COBRA insurance letter from current employer - recently got hired by this employer. I’m confused, I thought COBRA was offered after you resigned or are laid off?
For those who are regularly working 60+ hour weeks, how are you getting your exercise and nutrition in? The few weeks I've had at 60 hrs I was just so exhausted and couldn't find it in me to then focus on my health. Wondering how I'd do it if I tried to lateral to a more intense firm.
Do you think an MBA is worth it?
Got an email says "We are offering a highly competitive compensation and benefits package:Netflix/Amazon Prime subscriptions..."
With everyone leaving Deloitte, amongst other firms, should I still join for a 50% salary bump or stay at my current company and hope to get a new job 😕
Is it worth jumping to Deloitte (offer in hand currently) in order to position myself better for FAANG 3-5 years down the line? Other options include staying at BAH or trying to get into MBB.
Just got done with a 2 hour argument between AA, Amex, and our travel support about who canceled my flight for Monday without notifying me and now paying double for a new flight
Long shot, but does anyone here work at Lidl HQ in Arlington?Considering interviewing with them and would love to learn more about the culture, benefits, pay, etc.
Ever been let go before your billable time entries were in? Was let go today and not all of my time made it in as it was due next week. I’m expecting a heavy payout but I’m wondering if they can withhold since my billables are not in? Seems like their loss at this point.
Chase UR is migrating systems, so they might not be able to find recent rewards bookings. Ask for a specialist if you have that issue - saved me a lot of time!
Partners/Associates. How does someone balance the fine line between sending follow up networking emails to people who did not respond to the first networking email (sent pre-pandemic)? Having targeted alumni of my schools, I know people are flooded with emails daily (especially partners) and it may have been poor timing as people are busy. I don’t want to become an annoyance, but I do want to try to connect with fellow alums (with hopes of a job at some point (more than 1 year from now)).
Anyone made the switch and started working for the client ? Wondering if it is a risky move and what to watch out for
I recently lost a parent. It seems so unfair that if this happened during the summer I would only have to pretend to be ok for 40 hours a week, as opposed to now where 60 hours is the expectation.
Do mid size firms have similar advancement schedules as B4 i.e. associate (2 years), senior (3 years), manager (3 years), senior manager?
I want to get an offer from another firm to get EY to match. (1) If I go through the process with another B4 and then tell them I’m staying, does that become a black mark on my record if I apply for another job in the future? (2) Should I tell my referral contact about my plan?
Is anyone who switched to industry from consulting while on h1b willing to chat? Thanks in advance!
My personal phone bill comes out to $68 per month which includes $55 in text, call, and data and $13 in phone installment. Am I able to expense $60 or only $55?
Is Qatar airways a good option for parents coming from India in June? Are there any covid restrictions other than presenting a negative report? Their trip would be from New Delhi to Seattle if it matters
I've not done my masters (engineer from a tier 1 college). Will that be a problem with my kid's school admission?
Hey San Francisco Fish, I just got an offer that's based in SF (and I'm currently in the South). So I guess my question is, how do you live? Where do you live? Are there any tips you all have around the different neighborhoods or...how much money I should expect to spend on living? 😬
