Looking to change career paths but I’ve been struggling a lot to get any help. I’ve worked in hospitality for the last 7 years since graduating just before Covid and feel like I’ve trapped myself in the industry. I’ve got a degree in physical geography and would like to peruse a career in relation to that but I’m not sure where to go or what to do, any advice from people about changing careers in their late 20s?

Do not give up, I believe its easy to get swayed and/or discouraged in the beginning but start with small achievable goals easily accomplished to establish your personal growth strength, as time passes your wisdom will grow and you will know where to go and what do, just don’t give up, small goals to the big one.

I am attempting to get out of nursing in my late 30s, so I feel you. What I have done is picked just the transferable skills from nursing to a more managerial/administrative roll and tweaked my resume to highlight those transferable skills. Ive gotten a couple of interviews, but no job offers yet.

Try to jump on some skills sites like Skillshare to brush up on some skills and tech you might need to pursue your calling. Might have to pursue government jobs at the county or city level, or in the parks system. They often need surveyors with GIS experience or knowledge. I know they usually want most folks already experienced, but maybe you can talk with the alumni office of your university and see if they have resources to at least point you in the right direction in case the degree is a good enough start.
Best of luck.

Holiday Season - at my former company, around this time of year I would have already gotten a ton of gift baskets etc. - not something I would ever take home but open up for the team and leave out. Are firms no longer doing this post COVID?

NDAs for Nannies? I was wondering how everyone who is doing some work from home during covid handles in-house caregivers? Obviously we all take all steps to protect confidential information and realistically a caregiver isn't going to be exposed to anything we do, but does anyone require an NDA just to be on the safe side? (I dont have an in home caregiver yet, but just thinking about it.)

So, the CDC removed the Covid guidelines. I’ve never had Covid. I’m afraid people will come into work not wearing a mask and be inconsiderate… ughhh so distracting and disgusting. I’m also at risk to develop complications. Not sure if I should talk to HR. Not even sure if I should ask for accommodations to continue being able to wfh at least most days of the week to reduce risk. Idkkkk 😩This is so unprecedented. I always wear my mask at work. I’m getting pressured to attend firm events as well

Hi all,
I graduated during Covid with a double major in business administration and business management with a minor in marketing and magically ended up in sales because I needed a job. I’m about to take a data analytics course to make an attempt to break into that field. I’m currently looking for a mentor to help guide me during this time. Also, if anyone is willing to look over my resume and give me tips on how to make it more presentable for recruiters in DA that would be very helpful. Thanks

Hi Fishes,

I received an offer (28 Lakhs + 3.9 Lakhs incentive) from Novartis for Sr Project Manager yesterday. This was just 13.6% more than my current earnings as Project Manager. I've given the reasons why I deserve at least 30% to HR. In response to that, HR has sent 2nd offer i.e. 29 Lakhs + 4 Lakhs incentive + 50k sign-on bonus. The 2nd offer is just 18.2% higher than my current earnings. Need your suggestion, if I could still negotiate with HR to finalize deal by asking for 25% hike?
