Chase Sapphire is decent for travel. Amex Gold is great for groceries/restaurants. Probably best to still leave your discover card open, and charge once every few months so it doesn’t reduce your credit age.
Yeah was going to keep it open but not use it as much
Pro
I like my Amex Delta sky miles for everything. I don’t travel a ton, but enough that the perks are great for my family
Pro
We made several recent big purchases for stuff at the house (~$30k) that we put in the credit card. That, along with the sign up miles got my family of 3 a free flight for vacation. I also like the free baggage, which pays for itself on a round trip flight.
AMEX Delta SkyMiles Reserve is my choice
Pro
May be upgrading from platinum exclusively for this perk if we do an international trip with long layovers.
I love my Amex Gold. 4x on restaurants, 4x on groceries, 3x on airfare, and 1x on everything else. On top of that, Amex offers dining credits, UBER cash, and so much more.
I have amassed 116k+ points within 7 months of using the card between the intro offer and using my card for purchases I normally make.
Love the additional offers Amex puts out too (e.g. half off a CLEAR membership, 25% more points when you transfer your AMEX points to one of their partners like Marriott), and the exclusive events they give you access too thorough their AMEX experiences program is another great bonus. I’ve been impressed so far.
So no one knows about this card but it has literally the EASIEST sign up bonus EVER! Spend 1 dollar and get 50,000 American Airline miles with NO ANNUAL FEE!

Depends on how much you spend on travel, shopping and restaurants (and other categories in a year).
Amex plat is good if you spend on travel more, and if you live in a big city it can be a good sock drawer card that pays for itself with all the benefits (Uber, equinox, clear etc and other credits)
Amex gold is good for high rewards on dining and groceries, and decent 3x on flights.
CSR is good for travel and dining only with high earnings. Venture X is a good competitor.
Combine your highest spend with highest earnings in a card & that’s your sweet spot. Look at a card stack you can build that maximizes overall earnings (Amex plat, gold; CSR, CSP, Venture X, Savor?)
Why don't you go for Amex? I'd prefer Chase Sapphire for travel use compared Capital One venture. But I'd still go for Amex though even if it's not in the options.
