M&A tax question: I’m thinking about transferring from international tax to M&A. As an S1 (CPA, non-JD) would I get a pay bump or would I have to move to another firm? Also, what’s the typical utilization for an S1 in M&A tax?

I got rejected for an interview from Big 4 NY Audit, even had referrals from Manager + level people. 3 years w/ audit senior at mid size firm, 2 years fed tax at big 4, and 1.5 years Internal Audit healthcare.
