So Altman clearly beats out MBB in some sectors and is trying to position themselves as an MBB or perhaps tier 2 equivalent, but they’re just not matching the salaries. Why were Analyst salaries only raised to $95K when my friends at big firms (not just tier 2 but also MBB) will be making $100-120k as second years?

How many years back do background checks go, especially at the MBB? Is it the usual 5 years, or more than that?

Is it relatively easy to ask for a project in a given sector, industry, or practice area? Friends, I’m 25, entering my third year in MBB, and I’m so burnt out (I’ve averaged close to 80 hours / week since joining and hate the culture). I’ve always had a passion for public interest law, have worked at an impact litigation firm, and am convinced that going to law school is the answer. 1. How do I build relationships with my coworkers and managers? Since the pandemic people have been moving farther away from the office making happy hours difficult.

Recent lateral into BL from regional firm and in a specialist area. About to close out my 2nd full month and think I’ll eekk out 100 billables. I’m hoping that’s just because of year end general slowness. Any idea when I should expect to be fully ramped up? I had my first round of interviews with Mckinsey last Friday. the first case was a disaster but the second case + both of the PEI were quite good. The thing is, my other lead progressed very well, it's also in the Private Equity space, an Investor Relations manager role, boring but good money. they pressed me to go through all the process by the end of the week but I won’t be able to advance much with McKinsey by then…Super stressed, what should I do?
