Research Analyst - responds to deep insight and information requests from client service teams. This role is specific to our restructuring and turnaround (RTS*) and change management group. Day to day is probably responding to research requests within an allotted time frame.
Knowledge Analyst - codifies proprietary data and curates information in firm databases. Seems this one is also transformation practice aligned (RTS). Day to day is probably collecting, sanitizing, and updating reports and deliverables based on risk guidelines.
- Neither are partner path, I believe. Highest level may be a “Director-ish” title
*RTS stands for Reset Transform Sustain, not Restructuring & Turnaround Services - both roles most likely fall under this bucket
Sounds like the best bet as someone with less than 3 yrs of experience is to just apply for the generalist BA/Associate role instead
Worked with a few. They’re treated like consultants (spend time at the client) but solely focused on turnarounds/transformations.
In terms of division of responsibility, are they given the same work or were they only focused on PMO type work.
What's the day to day work? What is the promotion path?
Saw a posting for Waltham, MA earlier as well
Is there any possibility of switching to a generalist/consulting path? I'm interested in RTS type work but would like to be client service rather than BO but didnt see any entry/early careers role for the practice like those for sales & marketing, risk, or operations
Former McK here. So I tried something similar, in general if you have a skill that is needed you can very easily find a Partner or EM willing to staff you regardless of your alignment. The issue is if your group will let you go. If you want the experience as a McK C it’s very possible and feasible, but to actually switch is much more difficult
