Midlothian TX vs Waxahachie TX?

I’m looking to buy a home. I’m pretty familiar with Waxahachie. While both cities are relatively rural, which city do you see having more growth in the next 5-10 years?

Any other thoughts on why you’d buy in one place vs. the other?

I am doing a back door Roth IRA through Vanguard and while everything makes sense to me, I am unsure if an additional $6000 be invested for a non working spouse. We satisfy the criteria but two questions - 1) Is this still valid I.e., $12k can be invested for 2021? And 2) Any insight into how this is done - Vanguard doesn’t let me add more than $6k as it’s above the individual limit. I tried searching the bowl for specific answers but wasn’t successful. Inputs appreciated.
