^ Agree with this, our nanny and even babysitters brainstorm ideas and come up with this stuff. I would maybe start by asking her to think about some activities to boost your babies sensory play?
Agree that nanny should be planning, ours did.
But to help here are some ideas too: https://www.instagram.com/p/CTk4jY4BQkf/?utm_medium=copy_link

Amazing resources for ideas:

You might not quite be at these stages yet, but the time will fly
Nothing wrong with making suggestions but maybe depending on your communication a slightly more formal conversation around setting the expectation is worth it? While still being nice about it you can say you are noticing them respond to certain types of activities and want them to learn certain “skills” etc so you’d like her to incorporate ideas into their time together and even suggest some resources social accounts to get inspiration from because she might just honestly not know where to look for that age specific stuff!
worth a shot! also if it’s any consolation at all, when mine was 10months old we were WFH in lockdown without childcare and never had any time for fun activities- just kept them happy and fed and tried to go for a walk once a day but were working a lot. Now that they’re a toddler they’re perfectly curious outgoing interactive hitting all their development milestones. Don’t underestimate the kindness and care they get at that early age! The book Hunt, Gather, Parent offers some great perspective on these things! Best of luck.
Why isn’t your nanny doing this? Ours does all of this for us. We only pay for memberships etc for activities that she suggests. Or do you mean the days nanny isn’t there?
I feel like maybe my nanny isn’t doing much beyond being kind to my baby and playing with what I provide. I asked her to come up with ideas while the baby naps like sensory play stuff ect and nothing.
Even more reason to find a new one. That’s so sucky for her to agree to that and then not do it. Have you talked with her yet? Maybe she was unsure about the timeline? Either way I think there are better options out there for you. I hope you find a better fit for your LO.
Our nanny is pretty good about putting our baby on a schedule. Breakfast, story time, play time, nap, lunch, etc. But I’ve had to sign them up for activities like baby music class and swim lessons. She loves bringing him to activities outside the house but I’m the one who arranges them.
What about a subscription box? Lovevery … there are loads of others I just don’t remember names. I have heard great things. Or your local library should have story times. Local museums with event calendars. Or find a local parents group on Facebook and ask for recommendations. Not sure what city you’re in!
