My guess - he’s outgrown the daily nap
My four year old had already stopped regular naps before starting preschool this fall, where they have a one hour nap time. On school days, it is much harder to get her to go to bed / stay in bed unless we focus on wearing her out when she gets home (park, swimming, soccer, etc.)
Have to kill the nap.
We’ve had the same situations. It’s rough. Maybe try melatonin right before bed time for a week. It might be able to reset his routine.
We never do more than 3 nights in a row for the same reason
I echo what the others have said about the nap. My daughter was a terrible sleeper until we nixed the daytime nap. Also, getting her up early and keeping her busy all day helped tire her out enough that she started sleeping through the night again. I wish I'd known about melatonin back then. I'd have tried that as well.
Not much has changed. He’s still napping at daycare. Bedtime is the same as before. We don’t know what to do! We’ve reversed his door handle and tried locking his door so he can’t come out. That worked great in the beginning but not anymore. Anyone else experience this?
(We also have a newborn at home now but this was happening before that. Our newborn is sleeping better than our 3yo…ughhhh!!)
Try pushing bedtime back? My 3.5yo still takes a nap at daycare also so bedtime is close to 9pm
Tried the melatonin which helped with getting him to sleep, but he’s still waking up and getting out of bed. He’s now saying he’s scared and wants a nightlight. He’s never slept with a light before, but wondering if I should give it a try...
