Having worked in this role for so many years I know for a fact they never are. I do miss being asked for a manager when I wouldn’t give them what they wanted and telling them I am the manager. Followed by the threats to go to corporate that never happened lol.
Yeah, but even if they aren't right - aren't we supposed to act like they are? Isn't that the cardinal rule of customer support/service?
I also used to work in hospitality for 2 years and these kind of people are what makes working in the industry awful. They took away all power from staff. This kind of mentality leaves you feeling small with little help from business you work for. You are left unappreciated.
Certainly nope! The customer who is "always right" is always a Karen.
If this is 1965 and I'm making a living wage and getting some benefits from working in Macy's...sure.."the customer is always right". I'd bend over backwards for the customer and maybe stomach some of the abuse that comes along with customer service. Now ...if it is 2023, so no!
Fair, fair...
LOL That slogan is why Karens exist.People are so rude these days.
It definitely created the mega Karen, haha. The spoiled type that lays on the floor kicking and screaming.
Customers decided it meant the policies of the company and reality itself were to bend to their whim. There are some customers who are professional complainers.
True this. The Customer can only be right when they're not actively trying to take advantage of the policy.
We are now seeing customer service teams finally being given the right to tell customers that if they scream, tell, or swear over the phone or in the store, the customer will not be dealt with...until they can calm down.
