Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

You are definitely out there and not alone.

Lions don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep. Sounds like they're scrutinizing every applicant and every single person on this planet is going to have positives and negatives. The more time you waste thinking about someone else's perspective on you, the more time you could have spent expressing gratitude for your position and the things you love about yourself. Flip the way you are looking at this because filling your head with doubts is only hurting you.
Opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got one and they all stink. Even the best of employees will have haters. Keep doing you 🫶🏼
I’m not religious, but someone said something to me once which really helped me out. I was always insecure and had this need to make sure everyone liked me and someone pointed out that Jesus was probably the best person on the planet and so many people hated him. So, the lesson there is not to worry so much about what other people think as long as you feel good about who you are.
I understand that we all want to make a great impression. However, I need you to remember, you snagged the job. So clearly, you nailed it! It's natural to be curious, but dwelling on negative comments won't do you any favors. Just let it go. Focus on the positive feedback, and trust that your current success is a testament to your skills and fit for the team.
Who cares what negative things they may have said? They knew you for an hour or so at that time and you made a good enough impression to get the job.

Take it as a compliment, look at the feedback that they give other candidates and make sure that you address any gaps that they see in candidates. With all the layoffs, now is not the time to focus on the past
Find something to keep yourself busy and occupy your thoughts. Nothing good can come from this line of thought. If you think you’re not good enough, you won’t be good enough. You have 18 seconds to turn around a negative thought. When one pops up, tell yourself ‘I got the job, it doesn’t matter’ and find something to distract yourself with. If that doesn’t work, go to counseling and find out what’s driving those negative thoughts and work on those issues with your therapist.
