My dad retired around a year and a half ago at the age of 60 and I noticed that his memory has been getting worse in the recent months. Like he thinks it's the first time we discussed a topic or heard about something when my mom and I talked about it like a week ago. And he's awful with any sort of names, like restaurant names, people..etc. He doesn't like any sort of mental activity and likes to read the news and plays animal crossing all day..lol. Is this normal part of aging or dementia?

My dad recently retired at a bit older age, but I have noticed a decrease in attentiveness over the last 10 years. There are some other factors that may have contributed (stage 4 throat cancer diagnosis and melanoma w/ chemo and radiation to neck area), but my paternal grandfather exhibited similar behaviors in his later years.

My grandfather struggled with hearing and you would often have to repeat things to him as he would have trouble focusing on one source of sound, or even if there was quiet, he would still have to focus on what you were saying. My dad is starting that as well.

My dad is also big into puzzles/reading and you often have to be pretty aggressive with pulling him out of it to speak to him, again I think to “focusing” on a sound.

So I don’t think it’s entirely related to a diminished brain function, but possibly impaired hearing could affect his ability to hear/process complete data being communicated. I’m a bit worried myself that I’m destined for this and will only be exacerbated by 13 yrs of getting my head smashed in.

Not saying it’s applicable to your father, but there are times I think my dad is becoming less with us as well, but the hearing I think affects him a lot more.

It's not Alzheimer's or Dimentia, he just doesn't care.

Not trying to be funny. The dude is checked out.

Can anyone offer advice for helping with adderall side effects? I was diagnosed a few months ago and I am new to medication. I have been taking 20 mg xr in the morning but have a terrible crash around 2/3pm each day where I just get very very tired. Doctor recommended 10mg ir mid day to combat but I still experience pretty severe fatigue as a side effect. Just wondering if anyone has found any natural strategies to cope or mitigate. Thanks!

At what point does it not make sense to buy/ build a bigger home? My husband dislikes our house immensely (was his with former wife) and wants to move. What do you guys think about apps like BetterHelp and Talkspace? I understand they might have real therapists working on their content, but a lot of the marketing I see is so vague and broad that it feels like a lie. Seems like "This app got rid of my anxiety with a 30-minute automated text questionnaire" is the new "This tea made me lose 20 pounds in two weeks!" Just seems a little fad-like and money grabby to me. Thoughts?

Has anyone moved away from NY and successfully resigned from the NY bar? What are the consequences if you just don’t pay? The requirements are insane to officially “resign” - draft a motion, pay a fee, send proof of service - I honestly do not know what this nonsense means, I’m not a litigator for a reason. Is there someone I can pay to do it? Should I just pay the $375 to stay active to avoid this nightmare?

The cheapest ticket in the whole arena, basically top row so you can’t see crap, is $506 before you start with the fees!!! Am I wrong or is that just bananas????
