Thoughts on if I should ask him to work for a few years before we have kids (not touch ANY of his salary/save it) and then we will be used to living off one salary when the time comes?
Why is he in grad school if he wants to be a stay at home dad? Tell him to be a teacher or something.
Defiantly have the conversation but also consider whether you want to be working full time. Nothing wrong with it as both my wife and I work full time with 3 kids but make sure that you're OK with working full time If he's at home full time
My dad was an independent architect/stay at home while my mom was a SM/consulting director for the first 12 years of my life, seems to work great. 3 successful kids and happily married for 27 years :)
My husband is a stay at home dad. We didn't plan it that way but it just worked out. Your money is different but it works out great and is a wonderful thing for the kids too.
My sister in law is a partner at EY, brother in law with a PhD is a stay home dad to 3 kids. It can work

My dads cousin was a stay at home dad and it worked great for him and his wife. His wife was CTO of a successful startup and he got to train for a black belt in tae kwon do after he took the kids to school.
If you plan to stay in consulting then having a stay at home spouse can be an awesome idea
