Can we talk about the failure that is vision 2020? I dunno about yalls office , but here in the south. We've had employees laid off , list multiple clients , and are now trying to pass stuff to India
Is it safe to hide the fact that I was part of a group layoff and say instead that I chose to leave? Can recruiters find out the truth from my former employer and hurt my chances?
is there anything you can do to a previous supervisor who screwed you over due to discrimination ? Reported her to HR but not enough to get her fired.
How common is PIP in consulting? When someone is fired in consulting, is it normally preceded by a PIP, or is that the abnormal case? (Talking firms 1000+ people)
Anyone else starting to feel nervous about the extra $600/week unemployment going away? Also, is it just me or does it seem stupidly misguided that the Senate/WH prefer to send another stimulus check instead of extending unemployment benefits? Stimulus checks go to a much smaller subset of the population and aren't necessarily going to help those impacted by COVID layoffs. Not to mention the argument that it disincentivizes people going back to work is dumb when there are no jobs to return to.
Google hired Timnit Gebru to be an outspoken critic of unethical AI. Then she was fired for it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/12/23/google-timnit-gebru-ai-ethics/
I’m in my mid-40s with a 7 year old and baby. Is it too late for me to back into public accounting? I was laid off last year and found a great job in a large bank. I miss the flexibility, challenge and rigor of PA. I would love your opinions. Has the ship sailed for me in PA? If I go back I would be an experienced senior; maybe, a year or so from manager.
Sorry if this isn’t the right bowl! I was fired from my last job due to performance issues. I filed for unemployment and was approved, however my former employer filed an appeal. I’m not even sure what they’re protesting but it’s making me really nervous. What should I do now?
Is it noteworthy to have worked in the creative industry for 23 years -18 in advertising, without ever being fired or laid-off? Are there medals or gold watches for that?
Question for the more seasoned consultants, these layoffs and overall downturn in our industry, is it an annual cycle? Or is this abnormally bad
Has anyone been fired in their first year in PA? What did you do afterwards to be successful?
Inspired by another thread- has anyone reported something and ended up taking a severance/ signing an NDA? What was your experience?
This country needs labor laws that actually protect workers is when time like this comes, average folks like us don't have to worry to sick about layoffs.
Avoiding the question about layoffs. Good job Miles.
Is this the week I get laid off?
Got an offer in industry and also got fired by the firm within an hour yesterday 😂 finally living my life for once!

How long does the honeymoon last in Big Law for new associates? When does one start to get brutalized (aka “experience the culture”)?
If anyone knows any opportunities for corporate strategy or project management in the LA area, I would appreciate the chance to connect! I’m new the area so my network is not here. More than happy to share my experience and goals during a direct conversation. Thank you!
Currently working at a Risk Consulting internship at one of the Big4 for the Summer. Been an enjoyable experience but honestly I’m kinda stuck on what I really want to do full time. Got a really big interest in the Tax environment as well. Majoring in Acc and MIS - Kinda can go either way with these majors. Any advice? (Also don’t think I’d be public accounting for life - So long term wise not sure which is better)
I need to get out of EY and I’ve known for a while but I’m terrified to start somewhere from scratch and not be good at it. I’ve been with EY Assurance NYC for 7 years and I was just rated “above peers” so I know I can stay here for a while but I’m pretty miserable. How did people in this position finally decide it was time to go? Any regrets or advice on how to navigate this?

Recent college grad having a lot of trouble understanding if I should max my traditional or Roth IRA this year. I make 100k salary and made 60k from short term capital gains last year, but maxed my 401k. Does this mean I made too much to use a Roth this year?
Prepping for AWS Cloud Practitioner cert. Any suggested on sample test questions that best represent the exam?
I interviewed for a job in a diff location and during interviews they asked me multiple times how I felt abt relocating. I said it was fine, but the more I think about it the less I’m open to relocating. I now have an offer from them, is there anyway to negotiate no relocation? They are remote until mid year 2021. I’m Happy to fly in on a monthly basis but I don’t want to move there.
Those who work remote or are local - what's your food budget per month? Also specify your cost of living. Looking specifically toward single males.
I'm freelancing a fun project mostly for exposure (some $) but the way my client is treating me it's not even fun anymore and I'm not even sure I wanna be associated with the damn thing
