My new job is making me anxious and semi depressed. New sales- healthcare IT. Zero leads or lead generation. We have to cold call and email. Inherited zero pipeline. Marketing asks us for lists to send webinar invites to. Doing Lead gen, marketing, and soon to learn to demo the software too. It’s a crazy amount to take on all at once. Are other new biz roles out there like this too? I am not selling. Haven’t spoken to one potential prospect since I started this role in late Jan.

I work in health tech too. Unfortunately this is very normal. I would ask to shadow another AE on their calls and also ask your team what messaging they’ve used to book meetings.

This sounds like a recipe for failure and it wouldn’t be your fault. Have you kept on looking for another job? If not maybe you should?

I just joined a new company about two months ago and I find myself in the same boat. It is unfortunate but I’ve accepted it and I’ve started looking for other options. For the time being I don’t really have funds to afford any type of pipeline but I’ve used some social media spam accounts I created to try and find communities that might be interested as well as utilizing anyone’s zoom info accounts that I can find. I think it’s best to start looking for other options as well as starting to think what you can do in this current position to boost your resume for your future.

Honestly sounds like they aren't setting you up for the best success really. Kind of sad that they've dumped so much on you. Did you have prior healthcare experience? Is that where the pressure is coming from?

In a way, i do the job so well that i get asked to do more AD projs and guide more projs — but then: wtf does my CD do? They mostly just 👍🏻what i direct n approve

Any particular segment of sales good for ex-finance? Currently 3 years in at fortune 100 bank on business development side (on commercial loan originations team but no commission/targets at the associate level, basically do credit analysis and build pitch books for the producers) This role has been great as I have gotten both analytical experience and tasted sales experience (I say taste bc I’m not the producer) but would potentially like to transition to a sales role that is less analytical
