Rental liability doesnt show up unless the building management of the place your cosigning for reports it. Ask them. 90% of the time these DO NOT show up. It’s just a way for LLs to cover their asses if something goes wrong and they need to sue to get their money
Exactly, glad to hear!
You may want to talk to a lender about this.
Fair, I will try and speak with a home lending advisor at least.
Don’t quote me but I’m pretty sure this will not show up on your credit report and therefore shouldn’t be a factor on your DTI ratio. But maybe google it
Interesting, I thought all rental liability was included. Given I am not speaking about a co-applicant situation but more a cosigner/guarantor of the lease rent liability, I thought it would factor in
It likely won’t show up except maybe a credit check so the leasing company knows you’re good for it
I co-signed for my daughters car and still have 820 credit with low debt to income, similar to yours. The car shows as my debt. I’ve never had a rental show on my credit. The inquiries will have a small impact. If the place is damaged it will show as a judgement on your credit, if it’s not paid. I don’t co-sign for friends. Only my daughter. That family member better have a rock solid history of being responsible because you are agreeing to pay if they don’t. Make sure you understand the lease break fee.
