Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. More about giving back while in-between gigs. :) If you can help out or want to learn more, please reach out to me via LinkedIN. Thank you!! www.linkedin.com/in/karenkohn/

Check out your local chapter of Toastmasters. You can attend 3 meetings before having to join/pay. It's a very supportive environment and really helpful.
I was just doing that, but unfortunately the meetings are in the middle of the day. I'll have to investigate other options.
That seems odd. Is there another branch you could go to? Are you in LA? The West LA one is I think Wednesdays at 7pm.

You could also try an improv class or a General Assembly workshop. If you're in LA, ThinkLA sometimes has presentation workshops. Their next one is on Tues. Nov. 11. It's pretty pricey though, so look into seeing if your company will reimburse you for this continued learning. Maybe even ask your CD or HR if they could bring in a public speaking coach for the agency as a lunch-and-learn thing. I'm sure there are many others who have this same concern and could benefit from the workshop.
You could also look for courses on Udemy or Coursera or Lynda.com. Even YouTube videos. I also highly suggest practicing presenting by recording yourself presenting and watching it back (this can be awkward and difficult, I know) and working on what you see you could improve on. Do this over and over. Heck, do it with your partner or a friend. You WILL get better, I promise!
I'm in Denver. The additional offering is at a location too far away. However, a course on Lynda or YouTube could help to get the ball rolling. I should actually volunteer to present more, and prepare prior (perhaps using the dreaded playback method). This is my work after all, I should be proud to discuss and hopefully sell it through.
I find getting excited about the work and speaking to it with passion helps me forget my anxiety. Plus if you ever feel dumb for speaking up in a meeting or while presenting just remember some had the balls/boobs to pitch "sharknado" so really anything is possible. YOU CAN DO IT!!!
I love that! I definitely hold back in meetings due to anxiety and find other team members saying what I was thinking, yet outside of the office when I discuss the work I speak with passion and conviction.
