Hi all! I’m looking to connect with folks who either work at Coinbase or have interviewed recently for the Business Operations and Strategy Manager or similar role. I am looking to schedule my first interview which I believe is a consulting style case. So any details you can provide, I am all ears. The next interview will be a presentation. Again if you have any experience/advice on this, I’m ready to listen.
Thanks in advance! Help me escape Deloitte pleaseeee. I want this job sooo much!
Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? Thank you for your question.
In general, a single DUI from several years ago — especially one that has already been dismissed and has had no further incidents — does not automatically prevent H-1B holders from traveling or re-entering the United States. However, please keep in mind the following points:
1. Consular Scrutiny:
Even old DUI records can sometimes trigger additional administrative processing during visa stamping. This does not mean denial, but it may cause delays.
2. CBP Review at Entry:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers may ask questions about the DUI, but if the case was dismissed and there are no recurring issues, most individuals are allowed to enter without complications.
3. Trump-Era Policies:
Some older guidelines increased scrutiny for DUI-related cases, but they mainly affect individuals with multiple DUIs or recent alcohol-related incidents. A single dismissed case from five years ago generally does not create inadmissibility.
4. What You Should Prepare:
Keep court documents showing the case was dismissed.
Maintain evidence of no recurring incidents.
Travel with your H-1B approval notice, employment verification letter, and valid passport.
5. Green Card Process:
A single dismissed DUI usually does not affect the GC process unless there are other factors.
This is general information only. For personal legal advice, it is always best to consult a licensed U.S. immigration attorney who can review your specific case and documents.
Same situation but I’m on an L1 visa. I’ve flown overseas about 10 times since the new administration and I haven’t had any issues or questions asked by immigration.

Here is my response:
Given that your DUI was 15 years ago, involved no accident, and has already been expunged, it generally should not pose a significant issue for H-1B reentry. Since you recently exited and re-entered in April without any questions, that’s a positive sign.
However, due to recent policy discussions around DUIs, it’s always wise to carry:
Court disposition documents
Proof of expungement
Any relevant police or court records showing the case is fully closed
As long as you have a valid H-1B stamp and your record is clear, you should still be able to travel and re-enter without problems.
Still, consulting an immigration attorney for personalized advice is recommended.
Okay great? Thanks JLC1. I appreciate it.
