Needing to change careers while I still have usable hands. Too deaf to do anything with phone answering, but I can speak just fine face-to-face. Would like to move into accounting, but I will lose my job before I can learn Microsoft Office, and my BA was in Art, not business. Any advice on how to get someone to hire me that is willing to train? Spent 25 years on the bench with the same company, but I can't meet production totals any more.

Can you teach in higher education? There are many art schools with professors of practice/funded MFAs

Indeed, I would look at teaching. You are clearly a stone cold pro after all these years, and the number of art classes being taught by folks that are just “active enthusiasts” is substantial. You may have more worth than you know!

P&C focused people: What do you do to find success cross-selling life policies? I mostly sell P&C off internet leads. I do okay but not great with life after having the client for six months once I move them into a preferred policy. That move saves them enough to make life doable coupled with established trust. I’ve been told just to quote the auto and life together initially but it feels “off” to me.

I'm accepting an offer with a new company... Start in early Aug. Senior Manager role, though in this company that equates to Manager at most consulting farms. They did not had hunt me. I came to them for the job.

I have COVID delayed vacations planned for the last week in August and the first week in October.

Should I just cancel one of them? Or should I at least put both on the table and see what they say? They're going to hire me either way, but I wonder if it's a bad start to ask for both.
